First step: Download and install ACFile Server
If you have not downloaded ACFile Server yet, click here to download now.
Run the downloaded executable file. Procedure depends on your browser and operating system.
You should see a screen similar to the picture below.

Follow the setup instructions. When the installation is completed, a browser window should open like the picture below:

Second step: Configure ACFile Server, shared folders
Click on "Click here to configure your server" as instructed.
You should now see 4 different panes. The two upper panes represent the files on your system. The lower panes represents the files that will be available on your server. For your first installation of ACFile Server, there should be no file in the lower panes, as shown on the picture below. In order to make files available for the server, use the two upper panes to browse for the files you want to share. Once you have found a folder or a file to share, drag the file or folder onto one of the lower panes.

Once you dropped a folder, the corresponding folder should appear in blue in the lower panes, like on the picture below. When you are done, click on the next button in the lower right corner.

Third step: Check shared files
You have now a second chance to check what files you are sharing. If you want to remove a file or folder, you can right-click on it and choose: "Remove modification" to remove it from the shared file list.

Fourth step: set a password
It is recommended to secure access to your shared file with a username and password. If you want to password protect your server, click on "yes" and choose a username and password. Users who will connect to your server will be prompted to enter their username and password.

Fifth step: Check connections and save settings
ACFile Server will automatically check if your server is accessible from the Internet. If it is not it will try to configure your Internet box/router to let incoming connections to your server. The result of the accessibility check is displayed, along with the URL addresses your server is available on. These are the URL that you or your users must enter in their browser to access your server.

Sixth step: Connect to your server
Check that you can access your server files with the corresponding address (depending if you access your server from Internet or from your local network). You should get to a page similar to the picture below.

Congratulations! You have now an working file server on your computer.
